Banking arrangements for your business

Individual bank selection

Selection may include CKB, NLB and Adriatic Bank, considering the client’s profile, activity, turnover and residence status. Preliminary bank approval precedes notarization of the banking package.

Personal visit or representation

The opening format is agreed with the chosen bank: the procedure normally provides for a director or authorized person to attend, while certain banks offer remote options. The power of attorney is notarized, court-translated and legalized according to its country of issue.

Register of Beneficial Owners

Beneficial owner registration takes account of a holding threshold of 25% and annual updates by 31 March. Ownership information and the director’s digital certificate are prepared. Applicability to a company without activity is checked individually.

Corporate documents

Meeting minutes, governing body resolutions and counterparty contracts are coordinated with CRPS changes and updated bank data. Representation on contract, employment and ongoing matters is available under a power of attorney.

Account opening and service costs

No direct state fee is prescribed for opening an account. The budget comprises legal support and the selected bank’s opening, service and payment tariffs. Balance and service conditions are agreed with the bank; registration changes follow the applicable CRPS tariff.

Tax context for transactions

Tax planning considers corporate tax at 9% for profit up to €100,000; €9,000 plus 12% of the amount exceeding €100,000 for profit up to €1,500,000; and €177,000 plus 15% of the amount exceeding €1,500,000. VAT rates are 21%, 7% and 0% depending on the transaction. Registration is mandatory above €30,000 annual turnover and may be voluntary below it. Dividend withholding is considered at 15%. Applicable rates and individual calculations are established through tax support.

Legal framework

Support takes account of banking, credit institution, business organization, CRPS and AML/CFT laws, CBCG rules on accounts and identification, beneficial owner register rules and tax legislation.

Questions about the service

How is a bank selected for the company?

The bank is selected individually based on the client's profile — nationality, type of activity, expected turnover, and residence permit status. Montenegrin banks apply different levels of compliance: some (e.g., CKB) work actively with foreign structures, while others deal mainly with local clients.

Is a personal visit needed to open the account?

In most cases, yes — the bank requires the personal presence of the director or an authorized person. Fully remote account opening is available only to a limited extent: some banks (e.g., Adriatic Bank) offer remote options for foreign entrepreneurs.

Which services can be connected after the bank's approval?

Once the account is opened, online banking is activated, a corporate card is issued (if needed), and access is configured for authorized persons.

Can support continue after the account opens?

Yes. Ongoing support includes responding to the bank's periodic compliance requests (re-KYC, updating beneficial owner data), preparing supporting documents for transactions, and assisting with international payments and managing multiple bank relationships.
